A former client was asleep in his rental home one night when he awoke to his house engulfed in flames. Because he had to run through the flames to get out of the house, our client was taken by ambulance to a burn center where he spent the next month getting skin grafts and recovering from the extensive burns he suffered in the fire.
After requesting investigative reports from both local and state fire agencies, we discovered that at least one fire official had listed the fire’s origin as electrical in nature. When we exhausted all pre-litigation investigation methods, we filed a lawsuit and requested documentation from the landowner and the rental management company. Because we knew from our client about previous electrical incidents in the house, we were able to find references to a previous fire in the house and subsequent work done in repair. Due to the extensive investigation we performed, we were able to negotiate with the insurance company for the full policy limits of $100,000 available under the landowner’s home insurance policy. Had we not been able to assist our client with investigating the cause of the fire and locate evidence suggesting potential previous electrical problems, our client likely would have received far less compensation for his substantial injuries. We are passionate thoroughly investigating each client’s circumstances in order to obtain the best possible outcome. We have extensive experience and numerous resources we bring to bear in assisting our clients and we work closely with each client to maximize their recovery.
