Roswell, Georgia Injury Lawyer
Roswell is a city in north Fulton County that is considered a suburb of Atlanta. Its population, as of 2008, was approximately 102,000, making it the 7th most populous city in Georgia.
Roswell is named for Roswell King, who built a cotton mill on the site of Vickery Creek in the 1830s. The cotton mill King constructed was the largest mill in north Georgia. King invited several coastal farmers, who owned slaves, to join him in the Roswell area. Several migrated from the coast, and many plantations were built around the cotton mill so that the raw materials were in close proximity to the mill. Roswell had a relatively large slave population during the pre-Civil War days.
The city of Roswell was incorporated on February 16, 1854. Roswell grew much bigger in the years preceding the Civil War, but William Sherman burned down the King mill and transported the workers up North to disrupt the economy of the South. King rebuilt his mill, but with the lack of slave labor, the mill was eventually shuttered.
